What is Christmas without traditions!
The tree, the lights, the ornaments...
candles...advent wreath...nativity set...
vases of silk poinsettias and wreaths and garlands...
In the kitchen making fudge and decorating cookies
with Christmas music livening all we do.
A list of must-watch Christmas movies throughout December.
Christmas Eve--the annual drive though the neighborhoods
to ooh and aah over Christmas lights,
home again to enjoy homemade hot chocolate,
and a plate of Christmas cookies left out for Santa.
All this and more, years of memories, years of traditions.
Now? It's different. Some traditions we'll keep; others will be replaced with new ones. But, one thing, one very important thing, remains the same. The reason for doing all these things and the reason there's anything to celebrate, is Jesus. He IS the reason for the season. He IS the joy and peace and purpose for it all. His faithfulness and goodness are still here, and we rejoice, because of Him.
