Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Forgetting? Not possible! But, I understand. It’s about not getting stuck and living in the past, which is rather easy to do. But, I can’t park here and look in the rearview mirror, wishing longingly for a past I can’t retrieve.
Instead I must move on, reaching, s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g, branching out, pressing on. See the potential. Explore a new path. Find a new purpose. Discover the possibilities in this new season.
My journey isn’t finished. I hear the upward call of God to “come further up and further in,” as C. S. Lewis put it. Catch a glimpse of a new vision and pursue it with childlike enthusiasm. Yes, life goes on, and I embrace it in all its fullness.
